That is not the norm. Those people who take your money are either legitimate or scammers...either way, they have you pay for what you can get for free at the library. They don't help you get a job with the postal service in any way, except maybe supplying you with study material, which, like I said, is free at the library. When the postal service has an opening, they post it on www.usps.com, at the bottom click on careers, next page click on apply for exam, next page click on continue, then choose a state on the next page which will show you every exam being given in that state. The USPS is not hiring very much at all these days because of the huge decline in mail volume. Your son can go from office to office asking if they need any temporary or casual, as it's called, help. He can check with the main processing center on E St in Fresno to see if there is a need for casuals anywhere. Hope this helps.
